Frankford Arsenal Pile Driver Bullet Puller

Great design. Pulls bullets that no other device would - .45 auto round nose, Berry plated 185 grain hollow base. Tight fit, loaded rounds show slight bulge where bullets are. Hammer type bullet pullers break on concrete for many rounds. These round nose bullets don't have enough straight surface for collet type bullet pullers, like no grip. If the device has an impact velocity of about 300 fps. a 224, 55 grain bullet would generate 22/7000 * 300 = 2.4 ft pounds of directed momentum, not much. Pulling. crimped 22 bullets might be difficult. A 185-grain bullet, 185/7000 *300 =,7.9 ft pounds of directed momentum, more than 3 times. Enough to make bullets fall out upon first time 3 out of 4.,
Device is noisy, wear hearing protection.
The shell holder assembly clamp is subject to being launched into your face when the tiny screw & bolt holding the clamp gets loose- wear eye protection Upon searching 30 minutes I finally found the small 3/8 wide hex nut. I cleaned up the tiny screw & nut with carb cleaner, blasted it clean with compressed air & reassembled with a drop of blue thread locker. Mounting is critical, I screwed the device into a 2X6 using all 8 screws, 2X6 attached to bench leg with 4 2 1/2-inch deck screws.
If I had to start over, I would apply thread locker to the shell holder assembly clamp screw/nut before using device.
WEAR EYE PROTECTION!
Never worked

Getting a bullet out in a single try almost never happens. If you just keep trying usually, but not always, it will eventually get the job done. I have a lot of Frankfort Arsenal stuff. This is their only product that I have ever seen that is just a piece of junk.
Works very nicely

And faster than other methods. MUST be bolted to a table or bench, or the frame will likely break. Need to be careful you don't release the mechanism accidentally with your fingers not clear. Used on (100) 300BLK, (20) 300 Ham'r, might take two tries when a fairly heavy crimp is used. I attached a short length of tubing instead of the included bullet/powder trap, it sped up the process a lot
So far so good

On the 15th 9mm bullet pull the item broke beyond repair. Can not recommend the product. Love the idea.
