SPEER RELOADING MANUAL #15 10/CS

I still use and cherish my older 1980s-era Speer and Hornady reloading manuals, but this updated version has a ton of new calibers, new bullets, and new powders. I do like the historical information included, although I am not sure that I like the bullet-point presentation of this information as well as the older narrative style. In any event, I am very happy with this edition.

But lacks data for a .450 Bushmaster for some reason and .45 auto rim data is not included.

I have been needing to pick up another reloading manual. With the introduction of the Gold Dot rifle bullets, Speer was the best choice. They have tons of awesome information including how to load shot shells for pistols. I think every reloading bench needs a Speer reloading manual on it.

Very good manual with good information on most calibers and powders with Speer bullets.

This is a great manual. The technical notes, and handloading notes are spot on, and should be headed. If you are loading for a gas gun, or a cartridge that started out as a service cartridge; this info is invaluable. Especially if you value your firearm or your arm. Seriously, download the max data by 10% first.
If you are buying this manual for Alliant powder data, you will be disappointed.The website has more lead data, and powder data.

As usual Speer puts out another good manual. I'm glad I purchased it.

I started reloading in 1981. Currently I reload for 34 calibers of rifle, handgun, and shotgun. I just left my reloading room because I didn't want to exaggerate. I counted my reloading manuals or books dedicated to reloading. I have 94 manuals. Most of the time when I get a new manual it lists some new powders, cartridges, or bullets, but otherwise is pretty much the same as the last version. My manuals are from all the major manufacturers. The Speer #10 manual is the first I ever bought in 1981 - it taught me how to reload, no friends or relatives did, just that book. I C-clamped a RCBS press to my kitchen table and started reloading. The new #15 manual is extraordinary! It's a completely new format. Take page 428 (of 948 pages) about the .30-06. It lists a half page of info about this cartridge before it lists "cartridge case data," then it has a section (still talking about only the .30-06) on "Ballistic Data" stating data from 8 factory loads. Then on the next page it has a heading called, "Historical Notes." It's a whole page with 13 lines/paragraphs of historical info. Then it has a heading called "Interesting Fact" and tells you one of the criteria for the development of the .30-03 (forerunner to the .30-06) was that it had to be capable of killing a horse at 1,000 yards with one shot! Next page (still .30-06) List 5 different "Technical Notes," 4 paragraphs of "Handloading Notes" < really good info, then "Safety Notes" and data I've never seen in any manual (I have a Phillip B. Sharpe reloading book from 1937 that's awesome too) it tells the maximum vertical height a 180 grain "06" can go - 16,572 feet, and the maximum horizontal distance at a 38 degree angle - 7,809 yards! The next 9 pages have data with modern (new and old) powders in bullet weights from 100 to 200 grains (no 220's?). In all I counted 167 different loads just for the "06." So here's the amazing point: This manual has that kind of info for all the cartridges listed! It does list a lot of loads for the "06" because of it's versatility, but all those headings are included in every caliber mentioned. The chapters before the reloading data are VERY GOOD. I don't care how much experience you have, you can learn something new from this book. I'll probably be studying it the rest of my life. Speer YOU HIT A HOME RUN. The older I get (I'm 65) the harder it is to impress me, but I've never been this excited about a new reloading manual. Buy it!
