Product Information

Sierra has enhanced a segment of the MatchKing line by adding the acetal resin tip, thus crowning the Tipped MatchKing (TMK) bullet line. The major advantage of adding a tip to the bullet is the reduction of drag, producing a more favorable ballistic coefficient.  Another benefit is reliable feeding in magazine fed firearms. The 77 grain Tipped MatchKing (TMK) allows seating to an OAL that permits cartridges to be loaded into M16/AR15 magazines.

While they are recognized around the world for record-setting accuracy, MatchKing® and Tipped MatchKing® bullets are not recommended for most hunting applications.  Although MatchKing® and Tipped MatchKing® bullets are commonly used for varmint hunting, their design will not provide the same reliable explosive expansion at equivalent velocities in varmints compared to their lightly jacketed Hornet, Blitz or Varminter counterparts.

This bullet requires a barrel TWIST rate of 8” or Faster.

This is not loaded ammunition.

Accurate

Bought these Sierra and Berger and Hornady to compare all three and these performed as well as the Berger. Maybe a little more picky about seating depth but very accurate.

Sierra 22 (0.224) 77 grain Tipped Matchking Review

By Geoffrey B. on Oct 19, 2023
I recently loaded some 223 cartridges with Sierra 22 (0.224) 77 grain Tipped Matchking projectiles and found them to have excellent groups (sub-MOA) in my AR (1/7 twist) rifle. They performed better over the 77 BTHP Matchking and Hornady 80 grain ELD-M projectiles, which are also very good. One thing to note is that all of the above reloaded bullets are seated at 20 thousands off the lands.

Shoots really well in my RRA service rifle with a 1-9" twist when pushed by xx.xgr of RE15. Highly recommended.

Consistant

I use the 77gr TMK for my 1 in 7” twist rifles. But you should pass on these so there will be more for me.

Performed very well at a local PRS match, sub .5 MOA out of a factory barrel.

TMK 77

This bullet preformed very well for me. I ran XX.Xgr Varget and got .200 groups.
