Hornady® offers the same Flex Tip® technology for handguns that revolutionized lever guns. Typical hollow point pistol bullets deliver good performance at modest velocities, but have a tendency to expand too quickly and sacrifice penetration at the higher velocities achieved with lever action guns.

Got these to try in a 338 Federal accuracy is ok still have yet to try on game. Makes a nice looking round that feeds smoothly.

.338 FTX in the .33 WCF

I bought these bullets to try in my 1886 Winchester chambered for .33 WCF. Since Hornady discontinued their FP bullet finding suitable bullets for the .33 is not impossible but not easy. I discovered quickly that the longer FTX would require some case trimming in order to prevent the beginning of the bullet ogive being inside the case mouth when seated to a COL to function in my rifle. Removing .100" solved the problem plus allowed me to crimp the bullet in the cannelure of the FTX. the longer bullet and shorter case did result in about 70 FPS more velocity when compared to the FP bullets I have been using. I expected this so started with a very conservative load. The FTX bullet has proven to be a bit more accurate than the FP bullets, at least as best my 74 year old eyes can do with iron sights. Function in my rifle has been fine. Hopefully I'll get to try them on game this fall/winter.

Great bullets for reduced loads. I use them in my 338 Win Mag for hunting smaller game species. Works best at 2400-2500 fps velocity range. Rapid expansion on whitetail sized game...
