Due to the packaging and shipping process, case necks are often slightly dinged or bent and need to be rounded up and sized to give proper neck tension. New and/or fired cases must be full-length resized or have the expander ball of the sizing die run through the case neck prior to loading.

Not The Best Choice for An M96, But...

By Leon G. on May 21, 2020
The Winchester 6.5x55 brass apparently is drawn from the same blanks used to make .308 and 30-06. This means that the case's base diameter is 0.005" narrower than almost all other makers'. So loads made with this brass may perform better in a modern commercial rifle in 6.5x55 with somewhat tighter chambering.

I got this brass for a specific, and rather unusual application. I have an M1 Garand chambered in 6.5x55. "Normal" 6.5x55 ammo and brass fit seven rounds into the Garand en-bloc clip, but the loads made with Winchester brass load 8 rounds as usual. Functioning is normal.

6.5x55 Winchester Brass

By James L. on Mar 21, 2019
I purchased 200 pcs of this product. I had one case mouth damaged in the lot. I took off one star due to a significant number (like 40%) being shorter than the suggested trim length. Since I crimp using a collet die, this is not a total show stopper. I will reload these cases, neck sizing only, and recheck case length trimming as needed. All in all, not bad brass and affordable.

6.5X55 Brass by Winchester

I have relied on winchester brass for over 50 years. The 6.5x55 is no exception. I have found good uniformity, accuracy, and case life...especially remarkable when used in a break open combination gun (Blaser B97) that does not have as tight a lock up as many modern bolt actions.

Win 6.5 Swedish Mauser brass - do not buy

By Roger J. on Jul 21, 2018
This must be rejected production from Winchester's ammunition loading operations. Of 51 cases in the bag, 2 were unusable due to neck and shoulder defects that would have resulted in case splits on first firing, and these had to be discarded. Most had pear-shaped flash holes, some even with a small brass tag attached from the punching operation. In addition, most case necks were cut at an angle, so these had to trimmed to shorter to minimum length to square them up. This is without a doubt the worst brass I have ever purchased from any source in 30 years of reloading. I am not going to waste match bullets on these cases, just use them for blasting ammo. I bought these rather than Prvi Partizan because I wanted to buy American-made. We have other USA choices in 6.5 Swede, such as Hornady and Nosler. No more Winchester anything for me; they obviously do not care when they sell junk like this.
