Due to the packaging and shipping process, case necks are often slightly dinged or bent and need to be rounded up and sized to give proper neck tension. New and/or fired cases must be full-length resized or have the expander ball of the sizing die run through the case neck prior to loading.

Winchester 284 Brass

By Wayne B. on Aug 09, 2019
I have used Winchester 284 brass for in excess of thirty years. It has not always been easy to obtain. I find the brass to be a uniform product that meets my needs exactly. I am glad to see that more of it is being manufactured at the present time.

Winchester versus Norma 284 Win brass

By Nick N. on Apr 16, 2019
Purchased 100 Norma and 100 Win 284 Win brass. The Norma has everything going for it, consistent weight, uniform length, lack of primer burrs, everything. It shoots great groups. Then you reload it except it won't chamber because the case head, even when sized with small base dies, is swollen from moderate loads to the point it won't chamber. The Norma is too soft. Then there's the Winchester. You have to deburr the primer holes, FL size the cases and trim them to length, but at that point they are uniform. A little work that goes unappreciated until you reload them an they fully chamber every time even without a SB sizing die. Groups aren't bad either.
