Product Information

For rifles, this 55 grain #1355 Full Metal Jacket Boat Tail bullet was designed specifically to duplicate the military M193 bullet, and it is intended for use in semi-automatic rifles, such as the AR-15, M16 and Ruger Mini 14. It features an exceptionally heavy full metal jacket with a cannelure properly located for crimping and positive feeding. This is an excellent bullet for hunting varmints and small game where pelts are to be preserved. It should be loaded to medium velocities for this purpose.

In handguns of 22 caliber, this is a non-expanding bullet that will minimize damage to pelts as well as meat in small game. It is best used at medium handgun velocities to prevent tumbling upon impact. It is an ideal choice for the trapper or pelt hunter with a handgun in a 22 centerfire caliber.

This is not loaded ammunition.

A man has to know his bullet's limitations

By Joel B. on Feb 07, 2024
Sierra bills this bullet as one that duplicates the military M193 bullet. They say that it "features an exceptionally heavy full metal jacket."

This bullet loads and shoots really well for an FMJBT. Competitive offerings do not carry Sierra's quality. They also deviate somewhat from M193 design. Overall this bullet is a great choice for those in the market for M193 like projectiles.

My experience is zero quality problems and pretty decent accuracy. I'd recommend this one for medium twist barrels and patient handloaders. If you load a shade long-ish, but not outside any specs, you may be pleasantly surprised by the accuracy. I have been.

Perfect!

Arguably the best bullet for the hand loader to replicate the M193 5.56 cartridge. Superb construction, sleek design with superior ballistic coefficient in 55gr class. Definitely a go to.
