.22 Spitfire/5.7mm Johnson

I inherited two 30 cal M-1s from my father. One had the standard 30 cal barrel but the other had what appeared to be a .22 cal barrel. I have owned these carbines for 24 years and could never figure out what the .22 barrel carbine was. While retrieving an FFL shipment from a local dealer, I asked about it. He referred me to a gunsmith in east Alabama who quickly identified it. I googled the ammo and among the choices that came up, I selected Grafs. I was most impressed with what they had to say about their ammo. I ordered three boxes of 5.7 MMJ and fired the Spitfire for the first time in all those years. I used the 30 cal magazine which seemed to feed well, although I had several empty casings jam in the bolt. I attribute this to the fact the rifle has been sitting for all those years and a little cleaning should solve that problem. I did notice that some of the magazines rocked forward when inserted and did not remain in the rifle. I believe that there is much wear in some of them. Anyway, the Spitfire is really a hot little carbine and I'm happy with the ammo I received from Grafs both is quality and price.

Very accurate. Feeds properly. Great price!
I wish Graf would stock more of this when it available.
