The heartshaped design expands the recoil absorption area, extending protection to the upper arm.  Sloppy fit

This pad seems to work well to mitigate recoil impact but the fit is kind of sloppy and doesn't stay put.

Takes the ouch out of Magnums

As I have gotten older I have found my tolerance for the recoil coming from my Weatherby magnums has become a serious problem; especially when firing 20 plus rounds on a day at the range. I remembered that I had purchased as PAST recoil shield sometime ago (in the 80s) when I was shooting daily while practicing with the M1 grand, but, for the life of me, I couldn’t remember where I had stored it. When I received the new recoil shield I was very pleased to see the quality of construction had not diminished over the years. The first day on the range, with my 340 Weatherby, also proved that the recoil reducing properties of this shield were every bit as substantial as I remembered. After firing twenty rounds I was not sore in the shoulder nor was I flinching after the first ten firings. That in itself speaks of the unequaled recoil protection the PAST shield offers.
