GREAT TRANSACTION.

The 17 mk iv cases (or ammo) are hard if not impossible to find. Being able to convert 221 FB brass is the only viable solution. Redding makes the very best dies. Grafs is the most viable source of anything reloading. I am really glad to have discovered Grafs. The ship fast and are great communicating order status.
Making 17 Mach IV Brass

I first convert .223 or .222 brass to .221 Fireball with the Redding die for that conversion, followed by length trimming and the .221 FB sizing die. At this point, I do a partial neck thickness reduction by turning. Then you need the #1 Form die from Redding to partially reduce the .221 brass, and finally the 17 Mach IV sizing die and a final neck turning to around .012" or so. The Redding dies work very well, but as you can see, it is a bit of work. I have been able to start with used .223 brass, Remington brand, others should work. The work hardened original shoulder and neck are trimmed off, so old brass seems to work well. Carefully watch the cartridge headspace length. I measure it at 1.083" with a .330 Hornady gage, 1.088" after firing. Redding dies!
